I’ve been a big fan of Mari Andrew’s work for years and had the joy of meeting her at a book signing in Chicago a few years back. Her first book Am I There Yet? is a meaningful illustrated essay collection about finding her place in the world in her 20s. Her second book, My Inner Sky, is a powerful look at life’s days, nights, and all “all the times in between.” She truly excels at writing about the complexity and multi-layered-ness of life. Her words make me laugh with their relatability, but also cry with their ability to take me from a cave of despair and into a vast sky of marvel and appreciation.
